Housekeeping: Remember our Books & Besos fabulous giveaway! You still have almost two days to earn tickets by interacting with the content. Start by liking this post and introducing yourself below! Once you’re done, maybe you feel like reading about Spanish magical summer traditions and me being a teenage weirdo, or why apparently 200k a year isn’t enough to make me happy.
¡Hola, queridos!
Launch Week is about to end, and what better way to finish on a high note than by meeting each other?
My favorite thing about the Mediterranean spirit is our willingness to start a conversation with almost anyone. Neighbors, store clerks, random strangers: everyone is fair game.
There’s nothing I’d like more than to prepare a nice big table with wine, lemonade, at least three varieties of cheese, and jamón serrano—and invite you all over for a crazy late 10 p.m. Spanish dinner.
But while I figure out the logistics, please participate in this Meet-and-Greet thread!

I’ll start:
Hi everyone, my name is Marina and I’m writing from Madeira, Portugal.
I’m here because I am the author of Books & Besos, and I created Books & Besos to share the kind of stories that I want to read: warm, human, and wildly entertaining.
The last thing that warmed my heart was my sweet boy Atlas hugging me this morning and saying “ayyyy”1.
Your turn!
Besos
This is the standard way to teach Spanish children to hug people: “dame un ay” (“give me an ay”), and then you hug them and go “ayyyyy.” It’s probably against twenty modern parenting philosophies, but I find it cute.
¡Hola Marina! My Spanish teacher recommended Books & Besos. He loves your writing style. I'm American and live in Germany. The last thing that warmed my heart was my cat snuggling up to me.
Susan
¡Hola mundo! My name is Vanesa, I'm a venezuelan living in Colombian coast. I'm a reader from Psicosupervivencia.
Last thing that warmed my heart were my little piano students doing great on a concert! They're growing up so fast :')
